Medieval architecture, colourful houses and panoramic peaks in the background. This is the town of Sterzing, once voted the most beautiful town in Italy and able to enchant its visitors every time. Its beauty lies in the perfect coexistence of the Città Vecchia (Old Town) and Città Nuova (New Town), divided by the emblematic Torre delle Dodici, the symbol of Sterzing together with the Town Square.
Like every summer, the town is ready for its Yoghurt Days, which every year enliven the streets of the centre until late in the evening to pay homage to one of the town’s symbolic products, namely yoghurt
From 4 to 12 July, it is possible not only to take part in guided tours of the Latteria di Vipiteno, but also to go on excursions, attend open-air shows and enjoy educational walks
From Sterzing, the most easily accessible holiday area is undoubtedly Monte Cavallo, where the new Monte Cavallo Relaxation Zone is set to make its debut in summer 2021. This is where adults will be able to carve out a few hours of relaxation while the younger ones can have fun in the play area or, if accompanied, venture into Rossy Park to meet rabbits, donkeys, goats and even llamas up close.
Monte Cavallo can also be the starting point for a range of excursions and nature walks. From the mountain station, the Dolomieu trail begins. It is about 12 km long and suitable for experienced hikers, so called because it was along this road that, in the 18th century, the French geologist Deodat de Deolomieu discovered a new rock, limestone, also known as the Dolomites.
