Stradedisiena is the new 2.0 project in the sphere of the associated management of Terre di Siena Slow, which involves 28 municipalities in the Province, with Siena as its leader.
Four local associations took part in its construction, thanks to the resources made available by the Region of Tuscany: Fiab Siena, Fondazione L’Eroica, Ari Audax and Bici Club Terre di Siena.
Alberto Tirelli, Councillor for Tourism, explained: “A great team effort led to the creation of a tool that is considered particularly innovative. A bike portal that aims to enhance the value of two wheels in all its aspects. An excellent starting point, which can be improved, and which aims to make biker tourists stay as long as possible. A project that has therefore seen a great deal of collaboration between administrations and associations in the sector, but which will also involve a whole series of entrepreneurial activities: from structures with adequate reception to catering and ad hoc services.
These are all conditions that, as soon as the Covid emergency will allow us to do so, will ensure that our territory is ready to welcome this open-air tourism, allowing the restart of a strategic sector such as tourism, which cannot disregard the digitalisation of the promotion of the tourist offer to those who choose to visit our beauties, and which tells in detail the quality and professionalism of those who work in this sector”.
The centrepiece of the project was thus the creation of a new website and the related social channels Facebook and Instagram. A digital site that aims to be a point of reference for active visits to Siena and its territory, enhancing the value of paths and cycle tourism in particular.
This launching version includes, first and foremost, the itineraries of the Via Francigena and the Via Lauretana, underlining the importance of these two routes of national interest, with Siena at their centre. A plan that will be implemented with the addition, in the course of 2021, of at least 20 other routes, starting with the permanent Eroica route.
