Decades of love for land and agricolture. This is the origin of the Tenuta Calizzi, a property log-lasting owned by the family of Francesco Cavaliere de Raho, from his grandfather, a doctor, who was the first to decide to devote himself full-time to the management of the countryside by using state-of-the-art machinery.
It was the case of a locomobile , a large steam generator able to power the machinery of the first wine and oil mill installed on the estate, as well as activating the acetylene lighting system in every room on the farm. Since then, the journey has never stopped, reaching the 5th generation and being able to count on a number of different production choices.
Directly within the one hundred hectares of the estate, the Agri Bio Relais Filippo de Raho was born, in Lecce near the hamlet of Villa Convento.
Fruits of the forest, for example, have been a real winning bet since 1986 in a production area that had never had them among its traditional crops. Alongside raspberries, blackberries, red, black and white currants, tayberries and longaberry, there is also a focus on more classic crops such as mulberry, florones, figs, prickly pears and jujubes. As well as extra virgin olive oil, aromatic herbs, jams and frozen figs.
In this context, directly within the one hundred hectares of the estate, the Agri Bio Relais Filippo de Raho is located in Lecce, close to Villa Convento, and has been brought back to life after a complete renovation. All carried out in full respect of the original structure and materials, and enhancing the architectural elements of the time, such as the star vaults.
The relais is the ideal place to enjoy the most authentic experiences linked to the territory. With 7 finely furnished rooms, embellished with some original period details and a mix of design elements and refined antiques. In the quiet surroundigs, there is also a large panoramic pool, where the only word is relax in front of the view of the olive trees.
