From a former glassworks to an exclusive hotel in the middle of the Venetian Lagoon. NH Collection Venezia Murano Villa is the new 4-star Superior hotel of the NH Hotel Group located on the island of Murano, designed with respect for the history of the place that hosts it, a former glassworks that was one of the first to offer precious objects of art and design.
Industrial architecture and evidence of the past meet inside the historic Fornace De Majo, reborn to new life thanks to the careful restyling by the architectural firm H&A Associati of Venice. It is no coincidence that the entire structure has preserved the complex of 12 pre-existing buildings as a reminder of the entire production cycle and that everywhere, in the various rooms and spaces of the hotel, some traces of the previous use are intact.
There are 104 rooms in total at NH Collection Venezia Murano Villa, some of which overlook the lagoon and the islands of Sant’Erasmo and Le Vignole.
The exposed concrete walls, the steel plates, the bricks behind the bedheads, the windows shaped like those of the furnaces, the visible plants and even objects of art and testimonies linked to the artistic production of glass. In addition, the chimney of the glass-making furnaces and the exposed bricks have been preserved in their original version, through careful enhancement of the industrial archaeology of the old furnace.
Now, the structure covers about 4,800 square metres, extending from the main entrance on Fondamenta Navagero (opposite the Glass Museum and the Cathedral of San Donato) to the opposite side, overlooking the Venetian Lagoon.
In total, the NH Collection Venezia Murano Villa has 104 rooms, plus a restaurant, two bars – one located on the ground floor and another on the first floor, with a terrace from which to admire a unique view – a gym open 24 hours a day, and a Spa.
