Madesimo is a unique place, known for its traditions and ancient flavours, but also for its wide range of activities for experiencing the mountains and routes that can satisfy all types of travellers, from the more sporty looking for adrenalin-pumping experiences, to those who love “slow” and relaxing holidays.
In Valchiavenna, at an altitude of 1,550 metres, Madesimo is the ideal place to enjoy summer days and say goodbye to the city heat, regenerating body and mind.
Last Saturday 12 June, the Larici cableway reopened, kicking off the biking season on these incredible peaks. The most daring sportsmen and women will be able to venture out and test the downhill tracks of the Made Bike Park, and experience the thrill of descending on two wheels in complete safety on specially reserved and equipped tracks. A real open-air gym that offers trails suitable not only for the most pretentious and experienced, but also for beginners and children who want to try downhill for the first time, for a day of pure adrenaline and fun at full speed. The park also offers a pump track, a closed circuit made of wood with parabolic curves and bumps, and a skill park, a school camp for the little ones. All this surrounded by spectacular alpine scenery.
Still on the bike theme, Spluga da Capogiro 2021 returns to Madesimo: an initiative, successfully launched in the summer of 2020, which, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Donegani road, foresees for a few summer Sundays the closure to vehicular traffic of the SS 36 Spluga road in the historic stretch from Campodolcino to Pianazzo di Madesimo, guaranteeing transit only to cyclists and pedestrians in total safety.
Spluga da Capogiro 2021 will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday 4 July, Sunday 1 August and Sunday 5 September.
But the novelties in Madesimo don’t stop there. The mountain resort will in fact be the stage for the World Dance Award Hybrid Tour, an artistic project dedicated to dance in the territory, which aims to present Italy to Italians and the world and give it the chance to get out of its spaces, get closer to the citizens, occupy the historic centres and archaeological areas, freeing itself in the parks and gardens or entering the buildings to show them in all their beauty. Each dance school taking part in the project will be able to record on video the choreography that best represents the dialogue between dance and the place in Italy from which it comes.
The event will take place from 1 to 3 July 2021, through a rich schedule of events and stories in live streaming.
