The blue of the lakes, the green of the woods and mountains, the adrenaline of sports and adventure, the charm of a trip to cities of art and hidden villages. These are the proposals of “Gite in treno”, the Trenord initiative aimed at slow tourism that will allow you to discover the hidden and less hidden treasures of Lombardy through sweet mobility.
Five categories of itineraries are proposed – Lakes, Train&Bike, Train&Trekking, Cities of Art, Entertainment – which will also be promoted by Lonely Planet; a forthcoming guide will escort travellers through Lombardy’s most beautiful tourist locations that can be reached by train.

On Lombardy’s lakes, special all-inclusive train+boat tickets cover navigation on Lakes Como, Iseo, Lugano, Maggiore and Garda. First the train and then the bike, is the formula of the Train&Bike offers, special tickets that include train travel + bike or e-bike rental, or even just a discount on bike rental for those having a Trenord train ticket. From the end of May, it will be possible to discover Mantua and the Mincio Park; Valtellina; Lake Iseo; Lake Garda; the Adda Sud Park and Varese.
The Train&Trekking formula offers discounts on train travel to rediscover the paths of trekking and slow walking in Lombardy. For example, the Via Francigena and Via Francisca offer a 10% discount on train tickets for journeys between stations along the two paths of faith, for travellers in possession of the Pilgrim’s Credential.
Finally, the il Treno dei Sapori is dedicated to cooking enthusiasts and takes travellers on food and wine tours inspired by different themes, crossing Franciacorta on the tracks. Trenord subscribers can enjoy this experience with a 10% discount. In the coming weeks, the offer will also be enriched through special tickets for attractions such as Gardaland; Caneva; Fly Emotion; Ponte Tibetano; Navigare sull’Adda.
