There are many new features at the Agenzia per lo Sviluppo del Canavese (Canavese Development Agency), founded in 2018 and now recognised as a promoter of value generation processes for the territory.
First of all, the launch of the destination platform, IvreaeCanavese, which will be definitively online at the end of October, very complete and articulated that allows to communicate and enhance the heritage of Ivrea and Canavese with particular reference to historical-cultural and naturalistic resources, events, thematic itineraries and activities related to the tourist use of the territory. A tool strongly desired by the Canavese Development Agency, fundamental for promoting the territory.
It is an integrated software platform, created to manage the key communication processes of the tourist destination, dedicated to the end user and the agencies
“We have embarked on a new course, that of positioning ourselves as a tourist destination that is close at hand, sustainable, full of ideas for year-round stays and holidays, and unexpected. This is a goal that we have achieved together with all the stakeholders in the Agency (over 65 public, private and third sector members) and that we are putting into practice by equipping ourselves with the necessary tools – comments Luisa Marchelli, president of the Agenzia per lo Sviluppo del Canavese -. The new platform project, on which we have been working for about a year, is based on an innovative Destination Management System concept. It is an integrated software platform, created to manage the key communication processes of the tourist destination. It is presented as a large container with all the information about the area, from locations to events and itineraries, to make them available to the public on any device”.
The uniqueness of the platform lies in the numerous interactive functions that allow the end user to build his or her own travel itinerary – within four macro areas of inspiration such as nature, culture, food and wine, and active tourism – according to his or her own interests and based on various parameters, such as, for example, the duration, the time available for each individual visit, the distance to be covered on foot between one attraction and another, or by car, to reach more distant locations. Initially it will be online in the Italian version and soon in English.
“The platform – says Marchelli – is aimed primarily at the end consumer and, at the same time, aims to become a tool for tour operators and travel agencies, so that they can build products tailored to their customers, such as thematic itineraries, stays and experiences to be lived on site.
Canavese’s “tourist” calling card includes no less than four of Piedmont’s five Unesco sites: Ivrea, Industrial City of the 20th century, proclaimed in 2018; Agliè Castle, one of the Savoy residences that has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997; the set of prehistoric lake dwellings in the Alpine arc, including those of Lake Viverone, in the Canavese area, straddling the provinces of Turin and Biella; and finally, Sacro Monte di Belmonte, the most recent of the Piedmontese Unesco Sacred Mountains.
In addition, the CollinaPo Reserve, which also touches the Canavese, is part of the Unesco Man&Biosphere. In addition, the area is rich in gastronomic excellence and its particular conformation, with watercourses and moraine hills, gives rise to the production of a rare and prized red wine such as Carema, and the elegant Erbaluce Docg.
