The Farnesina launches “Italy. Land of Wonders“, a video game to introduce Italy, its cultural heritage and its wonders to the foreign public, especially young people.
With its carefully designed graphics, suitable for adults and children alike and created by Infinity Reply, “Italy. Land of Wonders” narrates the beauty and tradition of our country in an interactive and entertaining way.
Totally free, it will be available in 11 languages worldwide from 19 July in versions for iOS and Android, smartphones and tablets
Elio is the elderly lighthouse keeper who, every morning, with the help of 20 sparks recovered during the night from the 20 regions of Italy, lights up the Sun that shines wonderfully on our country. At the beginning of the game we see Helios at sunset – the reference is to the Greek myth of the god Helios – looking for a helper to carry out his onerous task. He has summoned a mysterious character to the foot of the Lighthouse: the player will embark on an exciting night-time adventure around Italy to retrieve the 20 sparks, light the Lighthouse and make the Sun shine again.
During his journey, the player will meet 5 Guardians who will guide him to the discovery of Nature, Gastronomy, Art, Entertainment and Design, the 5 fundamental sectors of our cultural heritage. At the end of the journey, the big surprise: the player will take Elio’s place, symbolically becoming the new Guardian of the Lighthouse, with the mission of protecting the beauties of our country. But first he will have to overcome no less than 100 gripping puzzle game levels, each with its own 3D reconstruction of a place symbolic of Italy’s treasures. An exciting journey in stages, through seas and mountains, cities and castles, traditions and myths of our country. Designed for those who already know Italy, but also and above all for those who want to discover it – and perhaps improve their knowledge of the language -, “Italy. Land of Wonders’ is also a travel guide, thanks to 600 texts full of stories, news and curiosities collected in a browsable album.
Finally, don’t forget the music. Original compositions inspired by the great classics of Italian music, from melodrama to baroque and famous soundtracks, frame a game that is also an entertaining and informative teaching tool for schools where Italian is studied as a foreign language.
Like all the cultural programming of Italiana, Italy. Land of Wonders is part of the general programming strategy of the Farnesina to support the Italian cultural and creative industries post-Covid.
