More than a maxi-store, more than a restaurant, more than an educational farm. More than… It is impossible to enclose the new Fico (Fico, in Italian, means both the fig plant and the fruit but also a slang way of saying cool) under a single label. Near Bologna, the experiential theme park dedicated to excellent food and wine made in Italy will open again on 7 July at 7 pm.
The only one of its kind in the world, Fico has been revitalised with an investment of over 5 million euro and a partnership with Fto (Federazione del Turismo Organizzato, Federation of Organised Tourism), to channel the flow of organised tourism. The park is new, with large food-themed sets, 30 attractions, 13 restaurants, 13 street food outlets, 13 multimedia factories and a guided tour all included in a single ticket (10 euro). Even the multisensory approach is new, with taste, smell, visual, sound and tactile experiences, such as the cooking courses on offer.
The location has launched a new relaunch plan that redesigns and focuses on the visitor’s experience, transforming it into an experience park that stimulates the five senses and combines passion for food and fun.
Stefano Cigarini, the new CEO of Fico Eataly World, guarantees visitors “a special day for those who love to enjoy good food and the pleasures of life”.
The new Fico will extend over about 15 hectares divided into 7 thematic areas: the Area of Cured Meats and Cheeses, Pasta, Games and Sports, Wine, Oil, Sweets, divided by spectacular scenery, games, rides and attractions and the farmers’ amusement park, Luna Farm. Inside, there is also a conference centre for 1000 people.
“Sitting with friends,” continues Cigarini, “tasting an Italian delicacy or crossing a 6-metre-high cheese wheel, riding a Sicilian cannoli or taking a selfie in front of the world’s largest fig tree, kneading a pizza or climbing aboard a farm carousel, swing through the orchard on a 7-metre swing or sail the Italian seas without leaving land, measure your height in pigs and chickens instead of metres and centimetres or guess the secret ingredient of a good ice cream, have a cow as a toll booth. Who says that good food can’t also be fun, play and discovery?“.
And there’s no lack of shopping – and taking home Delikatessen at Km0 – in the two thousand square metre market managed by Eataly, one of the two partners in Fico Eataly World, together with Coop Alleanza 3.0.
