EasyJet is adding capacity to its Italian domestic network, anticipating a growth in demand for summer travel.
The airline will add more flights between its Milan Malpensa hub and popular holiday destinations in the south of the country. In fact, according to a survey of more than 5,000 passengers conducted by the airline in January, 65% of Europeans have already booked a flight, or plan to do so, by 2021. In Italy, the percentage rises to 76%.
This summer easyJet will connect Milan Malpensa to Catania with up to 8 daily flights, Naples and the Amalfi Coast with 5 daily flights, while Brindisi (Salento) and Lamezia Terme will be able to count on up to 4 daily connections. Palermo, on the other hand, will see up to 6 daily flights to Milan Malpensa and up to 4 weekly flights to London Luton. From 1 June 2021, easyJet will also introduce the Palermo-Basel route with up to 3 weekly connections.
In addition, easyJet has put flights for summer 2022 on sale to give its passengers even more choice to book earlier and at significant savings.
“Thanks to the progress of vaccination programmes and the widespread diffusion of diagnostic tests – explains Lorenzo Lagorio, country manager of easyJet Italy – there will soon be the conditions to be able to plan one’s trips and holidays and, according to a recent survey, we know that more than three quarters of Italians intend to book a flight this year. At this stage our customers prefer domestic flights, hence the decision to offer our customers even more frequencies to travel to Italy in the summer months of 2021. Finally, we are also pleased to have made our summer 2022 flights available in advance, allowing even more choice for those planning to book or reschedule a trip next year.
