The Destination Design Conference 2021 will be held on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 December 2021 in Jesolo, in the province of Venice, at the Teatro del Villaggio al Mare Marzotto a Jesolo Lido: two days of high-level discussion, reflection and training for destination decision makers.
At the heart of the event, whose main theme is future scenarios, is the idea of a destination as an expression of the community and the resources of a place. The protagonists of the tourism offer, a fundamental lever of territorial development, are no longer just the operators, but also the citizens, the landscape, the social and cultural dimension, and induced activities. For an area to become a tourist destination, however, it is essential to have a governance strategy.
This will be the starting point and leitmotif of DEDE.CO 2021, which will focus on the principles, mechanisms, rules and relationships necessary for effective destination management, comparing successful national and international models.
The conference opens on Wednesday 15 December with a first session dedicated to the Veneto Tourism Strategic Plan. Product innovation, digital innovation, hospitality and human capital, communication and promotion of the Veneto tourism offer are the thematic focuses of the presentation of the consultation work carried out for the drafting and updating of the Plan.
At the heart of the afternoon session are “Models of governance, policies and applications“. Some best practices of national destinations, such as Arezzo, Bologna and the Dolomites, and international ones demonstrate the importance of governance models for the implementation of destination management & marketing strategies.
The importance of governance
Thursday 16 December will then address the theme of “Regional governance tools“, with particular reference to innovative and open tourism intelligence systems. From big data to destination management systems, Italian regions are equipping themselves to become data driven.
“Territory and destination: integrated development approaches” is the title of the fourth and last session. Sustainability, accessibility and the third sector are the key words to approach destination design in a contemporary, inclusive and innovative way. The session is enriched by practical advice offered by ASViS (Alliance for Sustainable Development) and by the experience of the Veneto Region’s Tourism4All project, for tourism accessible to all.
An evolution of the travel marketing days, which were held for five editions from 2016 to 2020, the Destination Design Conference is organised by De.De Destination Design – a network of companies made up of Itur, Ideazione and Studiowiki, three companies with different skills to strengthen and grow tourism destinations, and Wikiacademy, the study centre of Studiowiki, a communication agency associated with Una (Aziende della Comunicazione Unite).
Partners of the event are Ciset – International Centre for Studies on Tourism Economics and the Veneto Region, with the contribution of the Municipality of Jesolo.
Participation in the Dede.Co 2021 in attendance is in full compliance with the regulations for the containment of Covid-19 infection and is therefore only permitted with a green pass, received following vaccination or a negative swab result within the previous 48 hours.
The sessions will be streamed live on DE.DE channels and available on the website.
