Cycling, wellness, beauty, sustainability, responsibility. Vittorio Brumotti’s tour Sulle strade dei vini – Eccellenze d’Italia (On the Roads of Wines – Italy’s Excellence) will start with these hot topics in mind. From North to South, it will touch on the key points of Italian wine culture, characterised by a prestigious and quality product marked by the controlled designation of origin.
“I will ask the winegrowers what results did your bottle achieve but also how much charity you have done. I will do performances and improvised shows along the route or inside the wineries themselves and there will be no lack of provocation,” promises the bike trial champion. “We will have a lot of fun and it will be a pleasure to sip a good glass responsibly at the finish of the stage”.
All routes will also be the destinations of a tour through the beauty of Italy. All in the name of sustainability and respect for the environment.
With the president of Assoenologi, Riccardo Cotarella, as an exceptional testimonial, the event will start in the hills of Oltrepò Pavese, in Lombardy, and then move on to Piedmont, in the Langhe. It continues with the Cinque Terre, in Liguria, and then Veneto, Trentino and Friuli. The second part of the tour takes place in Central and Southern Italy, from Tuscany to Sicily, passing through Umbria, Abruzzo, Basilicata and Puglia.
“To show that drinking can be done as long as it is done properly. We will take a journey to discover a wonderful face of Italy that starts from tradition to reach the future. With oenologists, sommeliers, and owners of prestigious wineries, we will take a journey through tradition that looks to the new generations. There will be art, culture, wellness and innovation,” adds Ludovica Casellati, founder of the initiative’s partner Luxury Bike Hotels, the collection of relais, wine resorts and high-end accommodation facilities in Italy that offer tailor-made services to those who love to explore the territory by bike.
Among the Luxury Bike Hotels that will host the tour are Castello di Buttrio, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tenuta Artimino Hotel, in Tuscany, Altarocca Wine Resort, in Umbria, Du Lac and Du Park Grand Resort and the Hoody Active & Happiness Hotel on Lake Garda.
The initiative is realised thanks to the support of Intesa Sanpaolo.
