The summer events season for the Hotel Castello di Petroia opens with a special evening dedicated to the wonders of the spring skies. Tuesday 1 June will be “La Notte di Stelle al Castello di Petroia“, a stellar evening under one of the most beautiful skies in Italy.
The thousand-year-old castle in Gubbio was the first location in Umbria to obtain the “i cieli più belli d’Italia” (Italy’s most beautiful skies) certification for its commitment to protecting and enhancing the celestial heritage. Every year, the Castello di Petroia (Castle of Petroia) is in fact the protagonist of numerous evenings and events organised in collaboration with Astronomitaly – the astronomical tourism network. Once again in 2021, the strong partnership between these two entities is confirmed, with the common desire to transmit to their guests the ancestral emotions that arise from the sight of the starry sky.
Castello di Petroia is an authentic oasis for those who thirst for the stars, in search of a clear sky and, at the same time, a masterful welcome.
Before star gazing, guests will have the opportunity to dine by candlelight in the enchanting Accomanducci and Guidubaldo salons, amidst the fine and refined flavours proposed by Michelin-starred chef Walter Passeri.
This will be followed by a stargazing experience with Fabrizio Marra, founder of Astronomitaly, who will guide the public through the wonders of the starry sky. The astronomical menu in store for participants will be very tasty: from the main constellations to the brightest stars of the period and the most beautiful double stars, to amazing star clusters, distant nebulae and remote galaxies. At the end of the observation, there will be a photo session to capture a lasting memory of the evening in the memory of the participants.
The Night of Stars will be a decidedly appetising premiere, in anticipation of the return of the iconic and traditional “astronomical barbecues” at Petroia Castle, starting in July, again in collaboration with the Gastronomic Tourism Network.
