From 11th September to 3rd October, for four weekends, from Friday to Sunday, the 55th edition of the Douja d’Or is ready to light up the early autumn evenings in the squares, streets and most suggestive historical residences of Asti and among the hills of Monferrato.
The theme of the 2021 edition will be “Il vino al centro” (Wine at the centre) and the protagonist of the Douja d’Or will be wine, known and loved all over the world: Barbera d’Asti and Monferrato wines, Asti spumante and Moscato d’Asti, the labels of all the Piedmontese denominations represented by Piemonte Land of Wine – the consortium that brings together the 14 Piedmontese wine consortia officially recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture – organic wines, vermouths, pure and blended aromatised wines and grappas.
Wine, its future and the importance of spreading wine culture and knowledge will be the themes that will run through the entire event, which was created to promote an increasingly important product of excellence.
With this in mind, the Douja d’Or is one of the events leading up to the Global Conference on Wine Tourism, the most important world forum dedicated to wine and food tourism, which will be held in September 2022 in the Langhe Monferrato and Roero area.
The format of the Douja d’Or, in full compliance with anti-Covid regulations and in order to protect all participants, will follow the one successfully tested in 2020: a widespread and itinerant edition that will give the public the opportunity to get to know the wine and the excellent food of the territory.
The programme will be full of initiatives throughout the province: live tastings, masterclasses, but also art, meetings, theatrical performances, exhibitions and guided tours to discover Asti, Monferrato and its hills, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The 2021 edition will be a great one, spread in time and space, organised by the Alessandria-Asti Chamber of Commerce through the Asti Chamber of Commerce’s special agency for market promotion and regulation, by Piemonte Land of Wine and by Fondazione Asti Musei, with the patronage of Regione Piemonte, Province of Asti, Municipality of Asti and with the participation of the Consortium of Moscato d’Asti Docg, the Consortium Barbera d’Asti and wines of Monferrato, the Association of organic wine producers, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Asti.
